Medical marijuana can be an effective alternative in the treatment of certain severe conditions. Pennsylvania’s program provides patients with serious medical conditions access to medical marijuana in a safe and effective way. If you have one of the qualifying conditions, you could be eligible for a medical marijuana ID card.

23 QUALIFYING CONDITIONS

There are 23 qualifying conditions in Pennsylvania that medical marijuana can be used to treat.

PLEASE NOTE: Qualifying conditions for medical cannabis are state-specific. This list of conditions applies only to patients in Pennsylvania.

  • Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis
  • Anxiety disorders
  • Autism
  • Cancer
  • Crohn’s Disease
  • Dyskinetic Disorders
  • Damage to the nervous tissue of the spinal cord with objective neurological indication of intractable spasticity
  • Epilepsy
  • Glaucoma
  • HIV / AIDS
  • Huntington’s Disease
  • Inflammatory Bowel Disease
  • Intractable Seizures
  • Multiple Sclerosis
  • Neurodegenerative Disorders
  • Neuropathies
  • Opioid Use Disorder
  • Parkinson’s Disease
  • Post-traumatic Stress Disorder
  • Severe chronic or intractable pain of neuropathic origin or severe chronic or intractable pain in which conventional therapeutic intervention and opiate therapy is contraindicated or ineffective
  • Sickle Cell Anemia
  • Terminal Illness
  • Tourette syndrome

Participation in the Pa. medical marijuana program

There are four steps to participate in the program:

  1. Register on the PA Department of Health website
  2. See an approved practitioner to get certified
  3. Pay for your medical marijuana ID card
